Jakob joined our team at Acadia Mountain Guides this year as one of our Single Pitch Instructor interns.
He first began climbing with his father in and around the National Capital Region where he grew up. This early exposure sparked a lifelong passion for the outdoors. As part of a military family, Jakob moved frequently and had the opportunity to explore a wide range of outdoor landscapes, each with its own unique adventures.
Throughout his life, Jakob has continued to nurture his love for the outdoors—whether through his involvement with Scouts, exploring new environments, or taking countless personal trips with family and friends.
Jakob is currently a rising senior at Colgate University, where he studies Astrogeophysics. He is also an active leader in Colgate’s Outdoor Education program, where, as a senior leader, he guides a variety of climbing and non-climbing trips while mentoring and training other student leaders. In addition, he works as a route setter and climbing wall instructor.
Jakob’s favorite part of guiding and instructing is introducing others to new experiences and teaching them valuable outdoor skills.
Some of Jakob’s favorite climbing destinations in the U.S. include Red Rocks (NV), Acadia National Park (ME), Great Falls (MD), Horseshoe Canyon Ranch (AR), Red River Gorge (KY), and the Adirondacks (NY).
