Nathan Lavoy

Guiding Since 2024

Nate’s love for the outdoors began early in his childhood and grew larger upon moving to Maine to pursue a bachelors degree. Originally being from Connecticut, he has a great appreciation for Maine’s beauty and it’s plethora of land that is accessible for recreation.

Nate studied at the University of Maine in Orono where he majored in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism concentrating in Conservation Law Enforcement. He also minored in Outdoor Leadership and Spanish. While at UMaine, he broadened his horizons by engaging in many activities and clubs including acting as a club officer in both the Rock Climbing club and Hammock club. During this time he worked his summers as a coordinator for YMCA Camp Ingersoll in CT until joining the community of whitewater paddling as a recreational kayaker and raft guide on the West branch of the Penobscot River in Maine where he still works whenever the opportunity arises.

After graduating from UMaine, Nate’s role for Acadia Mountain Guides became that of manager where he now manages the retail store Alpenglow Adventure Sports as well as certain operations within the climbing school.

When not behind his desk or out guiding, Nate can be found either out climbing recreationally, paddling on a river somewhere, snowboarding, or mountain biking for his own enjoyment and constantly looking for ways to improve his skillset.
