Rob Benton

Rob has spent his entire life living in the great state of Maine and exploring throughout its vast expanses of wilderness with his family hiking, camping, and skiing. After high school and a bit of time spent being a ski bum, Rob ignited his passion of technical mountain pursuits under the tutelage of our very own Jon Tierney at Eastern Maine Community College. While at Eastern Maine Community College he earned his associates degree in Outdoor Recreation and Tourism tailoring his courses to a very technical guiding focus and working to improve himself as an outdoor leader. His success at Eastern Maine Community College has brought him here to work with us.

Rob is both a very talented skier, as well as climber, and has spent much of his 18/19 winter working through his paces of the AIARE curriculum in hopes of becoming one of our main avalanche educators as he pushes his backcountry skiing skills and knowledge to an ever-increasing level of performance. Rob has spent much time on the granite in Clifton as well as Acadia National Park and he brings a vast amount of local knowledge. Although we can often quote Rob saying “my only complaint with rock climbing is that it isn’t cold, I’m much more comfortable in the winter where I can put on our take off as many layers as I want to keep my internal furnace at a comfortable level”, we believe he will be just fine with a cool sea breeze blowing off of the Atlantic.
