Rowan started recreating in the outdoors at an early age while on family vacations and playing in the wooded parks of his home town of Arlington, MA. During high school he would often organize hiking trips with friends and after graduation he took a gap year to thru hike the Appalachian Trail.
Once at the University of Maine, Orono Rowan found himself working at Maine Bound, the universities outdoor recreation facility. Here he developed a passion for rock climbing and instructing while spending countless hours in the climbing gym and on the high ropes course.
While finishing his parks, recreation, and outdoor leadership degrees Rowan became a registered Maine guide and began working for Acadia Mountain Guides. Not only bringing folks out to Acadia’s sea cliffs but also on winter ascents of Maine’s highest peak Katahdin.
Recently Rowan has begun working as the Acadia Mountain Guides Climbing School manager. He is committed to bettering himself, his coworkers, holding our organization to the highest standards of the AMGA and PCIA, and providing quality instruction to our clientele.
