NICHOLAS DANIEL
Dr. Daniel is the Director of the Wilderness and Austere Medicine Fellowship and Chief of the Division of Wilderness Medicine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.
Nick completed a wilderness medicine fellowship at UMass-Baystate Medical Center, prior to serving as the Associate Director for the fellowship at Baystate. Nick helped form the Dartmouth Hitchcock Wilderness and Austere Medicine fellowship and served as the associate director for three years, prior to taking the reins in 2023. He has additional training in hyperbaric medicine.
His passion for teaching and knowledge translation has led him to teach wilderness medicine in 8 different countries, including a month in the Himalaya. He is active in research and was PI for a three-week study on Mount Rainier and current PI for a funded multi-center study. Dr. Daniel has attempted summits on peaks such as Mount Hood, Volcán Tajumulco, Mount Shasta, Chimborazo, Mount Rainier, Kilimanjaro, Pico de Orizaba, Mount Elbrus, and hundreds of smaller peaks across the world.
